Flashing beacons

I saw a tractor with a trailer tonight on 30mph B road with a rearward facing hazard warning led light. It is fixed at about 3ft above the road so is just about eye level to any cars following.
It was extremely bright and seemed to be total overkill. Might be ok on a fast dual carriageway.
The car driver following was obviosly struggling with it and he was half covering his eyes.
I don't think the unnecessary use of flashing lights does us any favours really.

I agree. I bought a new trailer and the orange led strobe light is always on when the side lights are on on the trailer, as you say it’s exactly at eye level when driving behind it in a car which must be really infuriating. I haven’t thought yet what I might do to sort it out.

I wonder if it possible to tilt it down a bit towards the floor?

I cant see any reason for using flashing beacons unless you have something wider than the tractor on the back or front. Pillocks driving with beacons flashing and with the work lights on when hauling trailers are complete numpties
Well I had my beacons on earlier and my side lights on so the high level flasher on the back door was going didn’t stop a van stopping inch’s from my trailer when I stopped to turn off

Pet hate, there are a couple of grain trailer manufacturers that seem to love covering the back of their trailers in flashing orange crap.
If you follow behind on a single carriage way you can barely see after following them for a few minutes

Rearward facing blinding LED beacon.,

I think I have found a possible solution:

I don’t normally do flashing lights but made an exception yesterday muck carting in thick fog.

turned some tractor roof lights on as well.

it was day;ought though so not going to dazzle anyone,

just figured it’s better to be seen

those strobe light things on back of trailers are bloody awful in the dark I think.

I take a different view. I think that every tractor and trailer, should have their flashing beacon on when they're on the road, whether they be towing or not. At best it professionalises the image of the industry, and at the least it improves visibility and road safety...especially when some knob drives like a bat out of hell on B-roads.

The standard of driving though has deteriorated drastically I feel over the last 3-5 years, and I wouldn't be confident in relying on the reaction times and driving skills of most tech distracted drivers driving at God knows speed approaching a slow moving dark lump of metal.

Mind you, it's perhaps wishful thinking to ask for more than one working red light that's not got the lens caked in muck on some tractors around here.

Artic lorries are often wider and longer
They don't use hazard warning lights unless with oversize load.
Yes, that's a fair point. But there's a difference in the moving speeds. Most lorries are now well capable of keeping up with the speed of the flow of the traffic these days and HGV trailers are generally better lit/more visible for the approaching vehicles from behind.
