When I’m 72 hopefully my post knocker will be worn out and someone else can do it!

Scanpole only claim a 40yr life expectancy, no guarantee at all. Octopost's do a 25 yr guarantee.
i was replying to ARW s post ref C& G ,do they offer a 40 yr gaurentee or not ? if so lets have a look at it ?

I know,. But I thought my reply would add to the info on the post and it seemed to correspond to your post so I replied to that.
Much as its a good protector from white mould etc Tbh creosote gives me skin trouble these days anyway ,and theres always a splash or something like sweat in your eye that stings like....
and in comparison Ive never had any such health problems with CCA

Is any of the tanalised stuff worth having ?

Fair enough but surely if the right timber in theory it shouldn’t even need treating

If you got the right chestnut, red larch, oak or accacia timber then it won't need treatment but to rely on tanalith to make posts last longer is a waste of time and money. Some tanalised posts may last 10 years but that's too short in the lifespan of a fence considering the cost nowadays.

Got 2 packs for renewing and had cut the top of one last week, the creasote was right in to just 20mmof the centre
on the metal post then is it best to go for a standard post rather than the eco version. Thanks for the information, it’s all very useful.
