l rather suspect all the ex USSR countries are rather concerned, after all, his stated aim is to revive the defunct USSR. And while there will be a huge surge against power rations etc, l rather think many will realise it has to happen. From a news sight to night, Russian military is massing on the Polish border, and NATO is certainly rushing troops to neighbouring countries, and we can assume they know a lot more than we are being told. Putin has now threatened Sweden and Finland, with action, if they dare to join NATO. That shows he is not really living in the real world, the quick decisive victory he thought would happen in Ukraine, isn't happening, and he is blaming NATO for suppling arms etc. The orders to activate his nuclear arsenal, shows he is rather unbalanced, to say the least, any nuclear missile going of, would mean a retaliating reply, and in a nuclear war, there are no winners.

Listening to military 'experts', and reports from Ukraine, the troops are not equipped for a long drawn out battle, either mentally or arms. Not sure anyone really knows what will develop, and certainly military are moving rapidly into potential 'hot spots' in his neighbours. Perhaps the best solution, would be the Russians themselves quietly removing him.

The west are not unified.

And if putin goes it will leave a power vacum in Russia and could actually make things a lot worse, esp the risk of someone letting off Nukes in Russia but at each other and not another country!
If Putin goes it would be one hell of a place to invade! Every mineral under the sun available, plenty of space and put someone decent in as leader while the whole country is sorted from corruption and ran as a UN state 🤷🏻‍♂️ Somebody has surely thought of it…

No but it will never happen!

Unless the nukes get sent up and then most of us wont be around to see what happens afterwards!

The sanctions they are putting on Russia will do more damage than good!
Perhaps it's how sanctions are applied that will make the difference. Putin can't rely on the Russian people, however much social media is curbed within Russia. This is anecdotal, but ordinary Russians are making it plain that what Putin has done is not done in their name.

If the Russian people revolt to much he will shut down all social media platforms/internet/phones etc to silence them?

Being a rural bunch many of us forum members would be around to see what happens! I reckon we live outside the kill zone of the nearest likely nuke targets to us but too close for it to be a pleasant experience! Think I would rather take a direct hit that survive on the edge 🙈

Probably ‘cos he needs the dollars …

The Gremlin in the Kremlin needs the money

Yeah, I kinda get that. But at this very point in time he needs military and political victory. I would have thought he needs to drive a wedge in the countries supporting Ukraine. No gas would be a pretty good tool. Possibly more useful than threatening a nuclear strike. And immediately operable. But I was never very good at the board games of Risk or Monopoly, so maybe again not world geo politics!

I thought I’d be fine then realised one of the UK’s biggest refineries is 15 mile across the water from me, when they had an explosion there 25 years ago our windows all blew in

In the Times comments section earlier in the day a wag said in response to nuclear strike they were going to camp in local Waitrose as surely that would be safe!!

Think I am a little to close to Waddington, Coningsby and Marham to get off lightly!
