Anyone seen any communications from their councils?
Could be very close to missile fireworks if we listen to Russian headcases.

Watch the movie 'The day after' , scare the pants off you!

Keep your house windows closed and get under kitchen table. Have some bottled water stored away and a few dry biscuits. All you need to know really. Oh, have your will upto date..

I'm hoping that they'll attack urban areas first and us in the sticks will be OK. Gives me an excuse to stay out of the big smoke for a while just in case.

Whilst I concur with your comments the UK would be vapourised in the first few minutes of any nuclear exchange, city or countryside would make no difference, ground zero is ground zero.

Have you put a call in to your Russian mate Vlad in the Kremlin to gauge what state of mind he is in? You can speak the lingo, afraid I cannot but he does seem a tad upset about a few things. I did wonder if his gout or piles was playing up?

In the Cold War there was no point in doing anything in Mid Lincolnshire. Coningsby, Waddington and Scampton would be the first targets, fine living in bomber county until your on the receiving end!!

I always remember the Royal Observer Corps posts. There was one just to the Louth side of the Ulceby Cross. All you see is a little concrete top to the bunker.

All the information you need is here narrated by a suitably grim-faced man.

Contacted local council as I couldn't find info on civil defense on their extensive web site.
Answer: don't have any. Plenty on things like rubbish segregation though.
Suggested it might be a good time to include it.

Maybe the safest place to be as bombers were dispersed to other airfields and the soviets would have known this.
