Toyota Hilux - Traction Control Light on

Have a 2015 Toyota Hilux, 135,000 miles. Today when going round a corner on a dry road at 50mph the traction control kicked in and then later it went on again when turning in the same way, but down hill. The light is now on all the time and traction control isn't working.

Any thoughts? Imagine its a sensor?

Could be a failing wheel bearing.

Was the corner left or right handed?
So I also thought this, I heard some scratching a few months ago and felt the hub get hot so took it to the garage who looked it over and said there wasn't anything wrong. Its front right was making the noise and the turns were both turns.

How would the wheel bearing effect the traction control?

The abs ring which is picked up by the abs sensor will move out of position if the bearing starts to fail, meaning no speed is passed back to the abs/traction control computer. The pickup then thinks there must be a fault as the other 3 wheels are all doing the same speed.

Yeh that sounds like it, I'll jack the front up tomorrow and give the wheel a shake before I give the garage a bollocking on Monday. Thanks

Hmmm might want to look at the EGR valve and the inlet manifold. On the Avensis if the valve blocks the ABS and VSC light comes on, try using a code reader to reset the error......................................................................................................

The wheels were out of alignment which was causing this, that got fixed but it recently started doing it again. Assume wheels coming out of alignment is because something is worn on the steering rack?

I put heavy duty springs under my 2014 Hilux & the light came on. Apparently it upset a sensor or something & it just had to be reset / calibrated again.
Then last year, I drove it into a ditch & bent a front stub axle ( pretty common apparently, they certainly aren’t as tough as 75 series Toyotas 🤣 ). Replaced that, but yeah that affected the sensor again. Haven’t bothered to get around to getting it sorted out yet . . .
But, in answer to the original question, just go to your local garage / tyre alignment place & get them to reset it.
Or - it could mean that something is out of alignment ( have you hit anything / hit a pothole hard / maybe the bearings are in their way out etc etc ) & you need to check out your front end before you have any major issues
