Open the coal power stations back up possibly???Had some soil tests done on upland grassland and some fields showing short of sulphur, what is the most cost effective way of building these up? TIA.
I’m all for thatOpen the coal power stations back up possibly???
FibrophosHad some soil tests done on upland grassland and some fields showing short of sulphur, what is the most cost effective way of building these up? TIA.
Tbh we have been spreading fibrophos on this land for 3 years now and p and k levels are good but it’s done nothing for the sulphur levels, so need to go down another route.Fibrophos
@Cab-over Pete
Plenty of Coal in this Country still !I’m all for that

Sulphur will leach like Nitrogen does, can't really build levels so most apply an N + S compound like doubletopTbh we have been spreading fibrophos on this land for 3 years now and p and k levels are good but it’s done nothing for the sulphur levels, so need to go down another route.
Gypsum or Polysulphate?Tbh we have been spreading fibrophos on this land for 3 years now and p and k levels are good but it’s done nothing for the sulphur levels, so need to go down another route.
I definitely think I get results from liquid, I do use gypsum and muck but daren't stop using it as part of my liquid fertilizerTried gypsum years ago and it made no difference so moved to an N & S liquid fert mix to feed the crop and not the soil. Also tried the straight sulphur granules (can’t remember the name) but they are a phaff to apply.
Where do you get that from?You could try Juniper. It’s 13% potash and 40+% sulphur

Any Sulphate fertiliser, be that Fibrophos or AS, will leach readily so only supply S for a short time.
Another option, if you’re just looking for S, is elemental Sulphur (like Tiger 90 etc). Apply at 15 kg/ha or so annually and it will break down slowly and supply S through the season. Relatively cheap too the last time I got some.
Nitrogen already here thoughBuy combined N + S fertiliser. Apply that instead of straight N.
