Mistakes by the west

There are a number I feel they are making since war started, do you agree? Any more?

1. Categorically ruling out getting involved militarily. Always keep the enemy guessing.

2. Blatantly advertising supplying weapons and offering planes. No need to make ourselves targets. Covertly supply everything ukraine needs.

3. Acting high and mighty and saying officers in the Russian army will face war crimes charges. This will dissuade any from deserting or overthrowing putin if they are just going to be taken to court. Appeal to russian army to stop the war and putin, which is more important than a couple of convictions, just so we can feel good.

4. Blocking russian planes. More people traveling to the west the better, this will let them see the news over here, albeit biased on our side. But the more that see the devastation the better.

5. Making it about the west vs Russia. Banning them from sports etc, only playing into putins hands, shows that the West hates russian people.

"the west" should have invaded Ukraine before Russia got the chance, it seems silly letting them do it when "the west" have had so much practice

Yeah. That really is the thing. USA had the satellite images to see what was happeing.

I know it takes a certain amount of time to move stuff but .. unless they know Russia is willing to use tactical Nukes & Satellite killers.

The West should have reinforced the Ukrainian border as soon as Putin started moving troops to the Russian Ukraine border & made it very clear that if Putin invaded they would come to Ukraines help.
They should have agreed that Ukraine would continue to be independent & the two Russian areas would stay part of Ukraine, Ukraine in return would agree to stay out of the EU & NATO & trade with both blocks.
All of this could have been avoided but there were two naff leaders each trying to face the other down & both bare some responsibility for the disastrous outcome!

Agree with all of the above but if you say it you are accused of supporting Putin and/or living in Leningrad. I don’t support Putin but the West has handled it extremely badly in my view, as said spending 8 years encouraging Ukraine into the western sphere then scarpering when Russia took umbridge. Any military support should have been entirely covert and sanctions are a complete waste of time that only galvanises ordinary Russian support firmly behind the Kremlin.

Should have bombed the Russian army hard once they were one mile into Ukraine, both sides of the border.
Maybe so. I would like to agree with you.

But what if Mad Vlad had really taken the hump at this and retaliated with nuclear weapons?

We ain’t dealing with a normal person here. The bloke is maybe terminally ill and also clearly unhinged.
He once said something like ‘if there was to be no Russia then there could be no world’.

Would you honestly take that chance?
