My opinion is get it dyno'd.

We had a 150hp NH remapped. It was putting out 210hp before boost🤦‍♂️

Had to get him back to turn it down. Got dealer out with dyno as felt he'd given it too much.

After more power to run combination drill, seems large gutless tractor at moment . Same 6.8l block throughout the range so thought was more power but possibly would increase heat

I have remapped a tractor a few years ago, by a big reputable company. They didn't bring a dyno, as i didn't want much power, weather was bad and it was a long drive.
It is the biggest mistake i have ever done to a tractor!

The goal was to delete EGR, optimize the fuel consumption and maybe adjust it 10%, but reliabilty and fuel consumption was the goal.
The reason for all this, was a leaking EGR cooler, and remapping was cheaper than a new one. It was on the same 6,8l engine, in a US built tractor.
The tractor got loads of power, it was almost scary without anything behind it. I was told it was the responsiveness more than power, and that everything was in order.
The following year cost me about £25.000 in repairs. Engine, gearbox, axles, turbo, injectors - the list is endless. It was turned back to stock by the dealer, but the repairs kept comming.
It also consumed ridiculous amounts of fuel for the same work, compared to before.

I won't remap a tractor ever again, without proof of whats going on. And i'm not sure i will anyway. The few minuttes saved every day, can come at a very steep price.

plug and play mapping is playing with fire

if you are going to do it make sure whoever is doing so REALLY understands what they are doing and build a custom nap on a dyno

off the shelf one maps are playing with fire and often those selling them do not understand what they are doing well enough

personally i wouldn’t do it - manufacturers spend millions on r&d optimising fuel use, power and reliability - what makes anyone think a random man with a laptop knows better ?

Don't be completely put off. Every vehicle in our yard has been fettled. But on dynos or rolling roads and done by people who really know their stuff. Changes have been made within the limits of the engines and transmissions and they are serviced regularly with good oil and filters. I would stay away from generic flash maps and tuning boxes. And lastly I would disagree that a man with a laptop can't do a better job than a big manufacturer with a massive R&D department. They have to produce a one size fits all tune where as a good custom tuner will produce a map for your needs. Lastly don' t go for silly increases.

Remapped my 7530 without going on the dyno, when I sold it the dealer said it was 240hp at the pto,new owners were impressed and rang to find who did because they wanted to do another they owned, was never any bother with me and as far as know it hasn’t had any trouble since.
Every 6155 around has been mapped,I think you’d struggle finding one that hasn’t been messed with.

Give him a ring, tell him what you want, he has different maps for different results, and he does the development work on a dyno, he's done several for me with no issues and one is on big hrs now.

2 out of 3 JD's here are mapped by DD. (3rd one will get the treatment in due course) Zero reliability issues and they go well, fuel saving is worth it alone. He knows his stuff and will tailor the map to what you want. His maps are all bespoke, not generic. It will include EGR delete and complete recalibration of the vgt turbo so it actually works. 120% recommended.
