When mine were slipping there were lots of lambs that probably could have been alive but they were coming out in the bag and so suffocating if I wasn't there at the right time. Not saying the lambs would have been good but they may have had a chance.

I wouldn't think so, the toxo attacks the placenta and severely reduces the blood supply to the fetus, so the lambs are dead before they come out. The thing is that they are so well developed, they look like they should have been able to survive. if you were there to help.
I've found the telling thing is how clean they are. A lamb normally gets a bit scuffed and dirty trying to get up for the first time. Toxo lambs are completely unmarked because they come out dead.
Not sure but I think its the dying placenta loosing its grip that prompts the actual abortion?

It is also telling if it is enzo or toxo.... very similiar. The placental nodules on an enzo case are very obvious, on e you have seen it. I saw FAR too many last year.

Gas prices all gone up.... bound to see knacer prices rocketing... :(
Strangely enough I sent a cow the other week and the invoice was £10 less than the last one. I asked why, thinking it was a mistake. He told me that the price of the tallow/oils going out from the renderers has shot up so it’s costing him less too tip now. So he’s passing the saving along. 🤷🏻‍♂️ At least something has come down in price!

If you look at the lambs eyes you can tell if they were alive at birth usually. If they are clear and normal then I reckon the lamb was alive, if they have any cloudiness or dullness then that usually means they died in the womb. Old vet told me that, I actually am happier when the eyes are cloudy and dull so you know you couldn't have saved it anyway.

Bought a lovely pen of texel x mule shearlings to add to my flock in September , every thing ok until housing a week ago three go down with twin lamb despite ample feed and lick blocks . Couldn't quite belive it classic symptoms, got vet tested no ketones so not twin lamb after 2 died post mortem revealed OPA, at that age, bought a pen load of absolute sh!te never again why do I bother no wonder they were NRL the vendor must have a serious problem and will be told , too late for me now.

Just had one like that. Big mule ewe, 1 alive 1 dead. Both big lambs came out when I was having a brew. Dead ones eyes as clouded as buggery. I could have lambed it myself and it still would be dead. 👍

If nothing else I'm consistent, 2/4/20 - dead ewe bad lambing, 2/4/21 dead ewe bad lambing yesterday dead ewe bad lambing, all where the first dead ewes of lambing (but all year lost one day or so before the start). last night was one of the ewes that you know all day is not going well, put my hand in at 11 and all I could feel was a blown up mass, managed to get it out in 14 pieces , but by this time she was dry and I couldn't even start to get the second one through the pelvis and it felt bigger and more blown than the first so thought it better to shoot her than prolong the pain.
