Industry expert bingo!

Apparently there is a Market management core group which will be industry experts working with government.

I thought it would be a bit of fun to guess who make up this group of experts and what advice they might give to the government.

And then say who you would love to be in such a group and what advice they may give.

It will be interesting to see how justified our cynicism/ paranoia is, when we find out.

For example;

I'm guessing that this group will be made up of someone from;

Nfu
Cf
Tesco
AIC
ABP
and Lord Sainsbury

and I expect their advice next year will be that they should not have started the transition from BPS to SFI last year.

I would like the group to consist of

Bossfarmer
Kiwi pete
Jeremy Clarkson's Caleb
and Prince Charles

and I would like them to advise the government that they should apply any rules it has about food production, to all foods regardless of origin.

The NFU, AIC and RT are almost the same people.
So therefore "Backstabber" Blenky
"Vanishing" Guy Smith
"Dim" moseley
and the new man "Turncoat" Tom Bradshaw is it? are shoo ins as they can't manage on their own.
ADHB will be representing our views despite not knowing who their funders are and not engaging on this forum so expect another astonishing defeat dressed up as a success.
My votes for the real members to be @Clive @DrWazzock @Feldspar and @Grass And Grain and the only person who actually already represents farmers, George Dunn from the TFA. They'd sort the government out. Might need a livestock representative so since I know f'all about that I nominate @spin cycle to educate them.

I forgot that mysteriously (thanks princess nut nuts et al) the rspca and the national distrust will become “stakeholders “ and gain a seat at the table despite having no reason to be there

Sir Dave Lewis will be on it, ensuring nothing stands in the way of the cartel. The President of the NFU is his biggest fan; when he was appointed as Government food chain advisor she was gushing in her praise.

I’d add @Cowabunga to the list, he seems to have a better idea than most of the forthcoming legislation and its effects on farms on the storage and spreading of manure

Not guilty. All I know is that consultants that I used to audit my farm in order to understand the effect of the proposed legislation on MY farm, informed me that I need to double my slurry storage and export nearly a 1000 tons from my farm to elsewhere, or stop producing it. None of which is viable going forward and therefore my future is sealed. Especially now that the Welsh Assembly has won a Court case brought by the Unions to try and stop the all-Wales imposition of a N-vulnerable zone.

As far as I’m concerned, let them eat cake. The less food produced, the better the prospects for those that will be left, at least for a few more years until ruminant livestock producers are forced to end production completely, which is the direction things are heading very quickly. It would be foolish to ignore that trend. For me, the signs are there and this industry is no longer one I will invest in the UK.

In the meantime, make hay while the sun still shines. I would try not to increase any debt a farm holds and reduce it as quickly as possible.

But in all seriousness, who are our agricultural experts?

A few decades ago, almost everybody had some basic understanding of farming therefore such a committee would have consisted of people with a broad knowledge of farming with individuals selected for particular areas of expertise.
I rather suspect that this group will have people that have expertise [and vested interest] in parts of the food supply chain and be making decisions about farming of which they have little/ no understanding with little/ no first hand experience. If there is a representative with actual farming knowledge, they will probably be overwhelmed by the other interests and cannot be expected to represent all types of farming/ farmers.

This is how/ why we are constantly controlled by those with ulterior motives and is the ultimate reason for the decline in UK agriculture.

Well Lord Sainsbury died a couple of months ago so I would be surprised if he makes it into the committee.
