Yeah, the dust given off when using grinding wheels to sharpen cutters is not at all good for your lungs.
I admit, I have a workshop tool addiction :-)

My father in law used to be a precision engineer doing a lot of military stuff. He talked of some specialist things they did that involved grinding one-off glass components and said the precautions they had to take for eyes and lungs were extreme.

Grinding optical quartz glass perchance? Given how nasty silicosis is you'd want to take extreme measures.
For the price of Rotabroach raptor bits (pretty decent quality) they will do literally 100's of holes before they wear out. My personal count is 300 holes and counting on one 16mm bit, still sharp.
Then personally i just buy new ones. The sizes we use most are 14, 18, 22 and they are the only ones I've ever had to replace... so far

I use Tyris metalworking fluid if on the pillar drill, soluble cutting fluid if doing batch work in workshop, and HMT speedlube if on site or awkward positions. Lube is absolutely key to keeping the cutters sharp.

I agree it’s a good set, when I got my rotabroach I knew I was going to be doing lots of m14 holes so got them to swap one and put 2 14’s in. For what they do I don’t think they are expensive.
Arrived today.
Quick trial has shown it to be capable of putting a flat 540 65 24 tyre to 22psi in about 10 mins, off one 5ah battery. Not what it's made for I expect, but for an in field emergency...
Slightly annoyingly, it is necessary to carry some farmers friend, because there is no trigger lock button; probably to stop you burning it out blowing up big tyres.
