Anyone heard what they are charging this year for drilling, we normally pay £25 but guess will be up fair on that, had ranking bill come other day that at £52 per hour , there will be some very big contracting bills to come, especially now fuel going back up

Fm up 2 pence to 42p. Might be naive but that’s enough to make a profit at current input prices
It’s all very well in June when input usage is low but you’d think it needs to keep heading up if they’re wanting milk in any quantity through the winter. For some of us growing our own maize is never going to be an option.

I don’t really understand why they have put the milk price up so much so quickly. They’ve never been overly bothered before. They must be absolutely terrified that production will fall off a cliff.

I wouldn’t bank on people not expanding. The price of stock is going up and up so there’s is a growing demand and the price being offered for maize is unreal.
It will get overcooked .!Farmers can't resist

Trouble is current input prices are a lot lower than they will be next month and the month after
I seem to have a mixture of emotions at the moment, sometimes excitement/optimism at the rising milk prices, sometimes gut wrenching worry at rising input costs.
Treading the right path through it all will make a huge difference to profitability
