Get excited everyone! Monbiots new book

George has a new book out soon

I'm quite interested in how he pitches it so I'll be buying a copy. On balance I think he's one of those "expert on everything" types in a conceited way but I have enjoyed some of his last books

I'm wondering what the "astonishing advances in soil ecology are" and the people "revolutionising our understanding of fertility" and I'd also like to know who is growing all these perennial grains

He will not be beaten with insults.
All it needs is someone lucid to put the counter arguments in the public domain.

I would like to see what he comes up with.

And firstly if is scenario didn't come off then who would go hungry first? How risky is it going to be and will the market be willing to eat the things he thinks need to be produced or we will be forced to eat them instead?

I also want to know what these "astonishing advances in soil ecology" are because I think I've had my ear close to the ground on a lot of this stuff for a while and I feel I have a strong bulls**t detector and there are lot of them in the soil ecology world in my opinon.

Nevertheless I'm sure I'll learn something as I have enjoyed some aspects of his other books

I think you might underestimate the number of people who take his stuff as gospel.
Bet you it's all over BBC soon enough.
Probably more folk in the BBC who take Moonbat as gospel than the actual Gospel as gospel.

I reckon he hates grouse moors as he was an annoying turd at Eton who bears a grudge that he never got invited grouse shooting by his school pals.

Won't all these "astonishing advances in soil ecology" bugger up the organic boys?

Reckon he'll be jumping on the zero inversion regenerative bandwagon?

How does organic work for weed control without the plough?

Couldn’t hack it living in Machynlleth. Even in town. Too wild with too many sheep for him. He’s a townie when it boils down to it and he hates almost everything about the countryside. Enough to want to completely change it into his idea of Utopia complete with unicorns.

I don't think he will be.

Anyway its already be called the most important book of the century by Prof Sir David King and Greta Thunberg gives it her blessing and the bloke who warbles for Radiohead, and Brian Ferrys keyboardist from the 80's

Would have been nice to send a few farmers some advance copies though seeing as it is us he needs to convince

It’s just dawned on me, the AHDB should run an EHF, Experimental Husbandry Farm, to try out all Moonbat’s utterings.
There was a particularly vocal individual local to me a few years ago. Everything farmers did was wrong, he knew all the answers and the best way to feed the world. I offered him 4ha for 2 years rent free and I would farm it however he wanted all he had to do was pay for any inputs and he could sell the produce. This was a genuine offer that I was prepared to work with and maybe learn from. Never heard from him again!
