I have only been using the sprayer for a couple of months but today it seems to have the application rate fluctuating wildly and wont stay on the target rate for more than a few seconds.
Anybody any ideas where to start?

If it has prime and purge open the 4 small taps over the rear left wheel remove air from the spray line and fill with spray. Close them after 10-15 seconds and should be sorted

Yes as Tomj suggests have pump running ,pressure up system to 3 bar using the pressure switch above front mud guard or one on cab pillar and open and close each each purge tap one at a time for the prescribed time.

As above , try those options .
However it could be the flow rate paddles are either worn or the shaft which will basically throw the readings out and you will need to fit a new one available from Bateman. It's a white plastic block with a cable going into it and the spray pipe in and out situated behind / against the tank between the boomsupports. You can split the flow controller by taking out a spring pin to view the paddles but unless it's missing a whole paddle , not really easy to see any wear.
Ps I have had same happen to me but it turned out it was the spray mix( fungicides and trace elements) had left a deposit on paddles and put it out of balance but back on a more water based mix it was fine .

had cleaned suction filter and flushed out pressure filter before spraying, they were almost clean anyway. Had run sprayer right out so will try purging lines. But have sprayed over 2500 litres since then twice and i thought it would have cleared can see the puff of air at nozzles as the boom pipe filled. May have to look at flow rate paddles,
thanks for the help.:)(y)

Fill with clean water and enter amount in the tank contents. Put in manual and keep an eye that pressure remains constant as you spray it out, if the tank runs out before or still has water left when tank contents reaches 0000 then probably flow sensor. (Assuming it was previously set up correctly)

Flick it to manual if it stay at constant pressure then you flow meter is up thr swanny. Easy fix in about 2 mins max. It’s a common issue after a few season. You can’t get repair kit rather than a full flow meter. It consists of a new paddle and shaft. Again, easy fit

Get the o ring for it as well, I had one that wouldnt go back in as it had deformed a bit.

As above; check the flow meter but also check the Ramsey unit for leaks. We are on our second used Bateman and both have leaked on arrival; squirt some soapy water around the bolts and whack up to 4 bar. If both of the above are working properly it should hold a steady rate with 1 or all sections on all day long.

If you have run the sprayer out dry it will be the air in the lines affecting the rate as it acts like an accumulator and the rate control can’t regulate it effectively. Open the taps and purge the lines of air then close and go spraying

seems like air leak, runs in manual control but pressure drops slowly and i can manually increase to suit. replaced diaphragm in ramsey unit as it was looking worn but not holed. didnt change anything.

Have you done the squirty soapy water trick as per my post? Sounds exactly the same as ours; diaphragm can be intact but if bolts aren’t all equally and sufficiently tight it will leak out of the bolt holes

will do the "sqirty soapy water" trick when I get a minute, blasting on with T2 while weather is suitable as only have a couple of days to get barley and wheat done, our extase has flag leaf full out!
