Stiff steering????

After being parked up at Christmas for a week my weidemann mini loader had stiff steering, after 3 days it just went back to normal, not before we’d disconnected the steering ram to rule out the pivot being stiff or the ram being at fault, anyway roll on 450 hrs and it’s done the same, not helped by the steering wheel being very small.
Any idea?

it’s got a priority valve like this

mounted on the orbitrol.

When you say "stiff", is it heavy to turn immediately, or light when turned slow but increasingly higher steering wheel torque required the faster you try turning?

The latter indicates insufficient oil flow, the former is more likely pressure. Have you stuck a pressure guage onto the steering ram? Any other hydraulic functions slow, juddering, or "weak"? Have you priced the priority valve to see if swapping it out sorts things?

1st touch of the steering wheel feels like normal then it goes very hard to steer.

Probably not this but worth checking,
I used to have an old universal and the steering went stiff, worried that I wouldn't be able to get parts, started taking it to bits and found out it was the steering column itself seizing up, took it apart gave it a good clean up plenty of oil and grease and it was like new.

Could be a simple as a Blockage ( fairly new could be a dislodged bit of gasket/ rubber etc in the wrong place. )
or one way valve not working 100% ?

I thought air in the Danfoss but it doesn’t jerk, just stiff.

Strange how it righted itself and now has done the same,if it was something floating about the filters or spool valves would have picked it up,everything else on the machine is working fine,no loss of pressure etc

Remove priority valve and see if you can remove the internals and clean them. Had the same on a dumper (slightly different valve) must have had a tiny speck of something in it as it cured it.
