Seen someone irrigating wheat this morning
Not just lack of rain, but also been bloody cold all year not allowing crops to make any use of moisture when it there.

They are even irrigating wheat in the Fen here.
Same here - could actually have done with 47.
Now in the 2020 position of oats here heading a month early so the risk of future rain is secondary tillers spoiling the sample without increasing the yield.

When I left school people around here had 1 or 2 irrigators each. Now most have over 4-5. Couple of local big farms are nearly in their 100’s.
Same here... get some late cover crops and BB mix growing, and might even have some hay to cut later!

TBF we have 8 for 270 acres potatoes, 130 carrots and 1300 cereals. Rarely irrigate the cereals as I'm not sure of the payback or the best timing for those.

Maybe but we have had 25mm In April and 15mm in May so the local light land will be rocketing through the growth stages
even our clays are starting to get on with it now with no drought affect

Ideally, we need 25mm/week here, rather than 25mm/month.
Yields now expected to be 60% of normal.

If we get some rain this week another half an inch will do then we might be looking to 2019 but I don’t want to get to far ahead
