Valtra vs Massey Vs Fendt

Location

This comin from a valtra owner, never thought id see the day 🤣

Me neither. It always is the neighbour who is aware of the trouble with any tractor. The same with both neighbours irrespective of the brand they have as long as the neighbour has a different one.

We used to have many MF tractors, we now have Fendt, JD and Valtra. I could tell my experience of the one with most faults but I should get this confirmed by my neighbour first.

There is a new generation of Valtra/AGCOpower engines due quite soon. The current generation is about average on fuel consumption and drive-by noise but excellent in power and torque characteristics and reliability by all accounts. The new generation promise to be much quieter and more frugal but that remains to be seen. There’s no actual launch date that has been made public either, so currently it is vapourware rather than hardware.
Are there rumors about these new engines?
Will Fendt be the first to fit them?

I haven’t heard any more about them in some months. I know they are in the pipeline though. Was rather surprised they didn’t appear with the new 8S tractors, however MF have a habit going back to the 1960’s of launching new tractors with legacy [but perfectly good] engines only to have a refresh about two years into production with new and [sometimes] improved engines. I suppose it happens with most brands.

A really silent running, economical, high performance and reliable new engine that put AGCOpower way ahead of the pack would be very good news. The difference in noise from current new heavy goods vehicles compared to older ones is profound and most welcome and there is surely no reason why tractor engine could not be equally silent. I’m thinking particularly about my Scania milk tankers that visit each morning at around 5am and are whisper quiet and certainly no noisier than my Ranger pickup as they accelerate up through my yard. Imagine the difference it would make to in-cab noise even if current noise insulation was unaltered.

I’ve set high expectations and hope I’m not destined for disappointment as a result.

728 meant to be in 2yrs time

Sooner... i think

Nothing confirmed at the moment, a teaser revealed on the Agco power official site but nothing at the moment.
As already mentioned, I thought they could make their debut on the new Fendt 700
Or maybe they will start from the largest engine in the range, making it debut on the top of MF 9S or next gen Valtra S.

Valtra cab comfort and layout? Brilliant indeed

Valtra Susi engine economy and noise level?....... Not so brilliant (!)

Susi engine is a peach though. I can't say I found the noise problematic. Quieter than the JD I have been driving today. Was yours a 6 or 4cyl model? Maybe front suspension, cab suspension and the like might have something to do with it, I'm not sure how yours is specced. Electronic spools and CVT also help as fewer cables entering the cabin. I also tend to run at no more than 40km/h on the road as I can't be doing with being thrown about in the cab these days.

How the heck anyone survives day after day in a JD cabin still escapes me. Fudge all room in it.

Mines a Direct spec 4 cylinder bells and whistles (N134D)

I have never before driven a tractor that is so well thought out, nor so comfortable

Makes driving anything else just annoying !

The 4 cylinder gets more raucous under load than some more recently designed engines, but not intrusive
