Uncle used to be a butcher, and one beast that he bought ended up condemned, lots of cysts in the meat. Turned out to be some worm parasite which isn’t native to this country. Anyway the man he bought it from had been using sewage from Accrington sewage works. Treated stuff should be fine, but you never know what bonuses you can end up with.

C bovis?

Never used sludge here but have had some with that. Animal perfectly healthy but meat no good

I thought they just froze the carcass for 3 weeks to kill it?

That can happen but if it's bad enough it's in the skip. Obviously the compulsory freezing devalues the carcase.

Yes I knew you got docked for it but from what I’ve heard it’s not binned

I think it would end up minced and in a burger. By the time it’s had a few spices and salt n pepper added you would be non the wiser

I wouldnt drink any mains/tap water in England south of Yorkshire,and never ever from the Thames basin.Reckon Catcleugh will be safe enough.

Pigs are true Omnivores and will eat anything except a Donkey from what I have been told. They are very good at cleaning up Humans as well or so they said in parts of Italy!

Insects are very high in protein and surprisingly easy to breed and multiply, you only have to look at the Maggots on a Struck sheep.

Pigs and Poultry should be used for consuming protein from meat sources, providing that any feed is from separate mills.

You watch too many guy ritchie films

I dont like the idea of the main feed being insect protein and i doubt it will splashed across the packaging either.

Before FMD 2001 when the poor old Pig farmers at Heddon on the Wall got the blame for the disease, there were many well run Swill feeders.
I suppose the modern equivalent is an AD plant, but reading the comments about land spreading digestate and sewage sludge, the better option for food waste would be to handle it correctly and use it as a feed for Omnivores.

I agree it is unlikely to happen, however insects are very high in protein and could potentially be an effective substitute for Soya and not destroy and Rain forests.
