What does that work out at? We just drill at 180-200kg and it seems to sort itself out

Start at 200kg in early October. Add 25kg a week. Ish.

Seed is going to be an issue going forward, I have some over year C2 in that I can dress for next year. The breeder it came from may have planted some over year C1 for seed but I haven't heard anything yet. Sad really it's a bloody great wheat for me either as a first or a 2nd but particularly as a second as it gives that early chance for OSR.

I’m not sure it is counter intuitive.
The secret to No-till is NOT disturbing the ground between the row, therefore not waking the BG up.
Keeping the seed rate just as high as if using narrow spacing rows adds competition to the BG that is disturbed within and close to the row.
That what might seem extra seed is a hell of a lot cheaper than the herbicides, that don’t work well enough anyway.
I’d be very wary of reducing seed rates in a high BG situation.
One field I have that was drilled with what turned out to be low germination seed, has become a disaster BG wise. And it was drilled conventionally, not DD’d. There just isn’t enough competition from the wheat to have any effect.

I have not seen anything down here that comes half way close to that, you must of got it in early!

That's pretty much what I do, all HSS but starting mid September and up to 250kg by October but we're way North of you TGW notwithstanding and baring in mind Grafton is a very heavy wheat.

Spring wheat closer to 300 than 250 kg but still looks thin to me . Could have done with rolling but never got it done. Some heavier stuff looks better but some worse.
