How history repeats itself. In the 80's everyone was building there own reservoirs, later building dams and flood protection in the same areas.

So the experts? recon, with all this house building going on and the projected numbers needed? Also the fact that we just dont seem to get the amount of rain and hotter summers? well well well it dosnt need experts to work that out but common sense? large scale building of houses is just one thing, but then creates allsorts of problems and issues? for one house builders are in it for one thing only to make money? and quite right, they dont build inferstructure such as new sewage works, extra water reservoirs, major roads upgrades etc, thats the problem and cost for local council, Govt? Trouble is that end of the bargin dosnt get done?
as i'm from Wales I laugh in your general direction

Neighbour just had planning for barn conversion declined. Reason, nearby river levels by 2080 will have risen 60cm
Wow, so some plonker’s forecast of something vague happening in 60 years’ time is now a reason to refuse planning permission? Amazing. Mind, I’ve sat through 2 council planning meetings so I don’t know why I’m surprised.

Everyone should go to at least one of these meetings to see just how utterly fekking bonkers the whole system of govt is and how mindnumbingly stupid and lazy some of the people in govt are.

the problem as i see it, the southeast of the country and the counties round london are the most populated and because london is situated here in the southeast, also major ports and close to france, makes this area very sought after to both work and live ? plus its one of the driest parts of the UK? The idea of leveling up, ie, more businesses, companies being based outside of london and the home counties is a good idea?

What do we want?
This that and the other!
Where do you want it?
Not near our houses.
How should we pay for it?
Tax someone that's not me.
That’s what wins votes in the modern world though. Too many of the electorate can’t work it out when they’re being told porkies. Once you’re in power you can ignore the promises you made to get you there.

Just build desalination plants, works well elsewhere in the world
nick...
Uses huge amounts of electricity, why do it when we have plenty of water, it just needs some long term thinking to move it to where we need it, with some creative thinking it could also reduce flooding risk by pumping water from river during excess flow periods
