Bank governor in 'apocalyptic' warning over rising food prices

"The possibility of more rises in food prices is a "major, major worry" for the UK and other countries, the Bank of England governor has warned."

What exactly can the BoE or the government do about global forces? Did you see they are talking about easing the cost of living crisis by changing the MOT laws to mean a car need only be MOT'ed every two years? These people are fudging insane.

And not following through on the abolition of BOGOF is plain bonkers. If they still kept half price it would mean more people would benefit from the (exact same) offer whilst not generating as much food waste in the first place, which is exactly what BOGOF generates whilst discriminating against single people households.

Lot's of mainstream media attention now but when do you think Government will comment on it? Don't know what the plebs are on about, we had a fine menu at the members club on Saturday night,Sunday night,Monday night etc. Bloody whingeing farmers destroying the planet with their methane burpers.

Bloody bogof hides the true market prices.

Strawberries will be on bogof soon why? Because they will be more plentiful and over supplied, the price should go down but no they do a bogof deal and make the consumer think aww how nice of the supermarket to give us one free! When actually they could have spent half as much and not thrown 3/4 of the second punnet away!

First thing the government need to do is to put up a list of ingredients to make say a shepherds pie and how much they cost and then the cost of a ready made supermarket one and then say a McDonald's or pizza and show people how to save money on eating, with over half of people overweight there is a huge amount to be saved, plus of course more by not wasting food .
Of course the government wont as it will be deemed offensive to people.

Encourage us to invest in UK sourced energy and food...

Increase tax on non-essentials - new cars, holidays, hot tubs, etc... Have a separate interest rate for housing and consumer credit.... There are/ were options...

Cost of food is immaterial, they are buying time.

Hence the rise of food delivery companies delivering fast food.
