It's not been trumpeted much by WAG and the first I heard about it was last week, but a new grant scheme is available in Wales, with the first application window now open. The 'Small Grants - Efficiency' is very similar to the previous FBG, but with a minimum grant claim of £1000 (max £12k). It is open to those that have already received the Farm Business Grant.

Details are here:

Mobile sheep handling systems must be "Fully galvanised or powder paint coated metal"

Which would exclude all aluminium systems manufactured by the market leaders in this type of thing surely....

If you logged on to do your SFP it was on the home page as Grant's available?

I didn’t see it then. :scratchhead:

But yes, to be applied for via RPW portal apparently. Farming Connect guy didn’t have any details for it last Tuesday, only to be aware that it was coming, and due this week.

There is also another one due in a month, to encourage us to plant alternative forage crops, legume mixes, etc. :) No details yet though.

My quick read of the Small Grants scheme is that you can put in a claim for as little as £1000 now, then use the rest of the £12k allowance up in later rounds.
Applications will be competitive, and scored (each item has a score attached), with preference given to smaller claims.

More money into machinery manufactures pockets for overpriced items all to get a few quid off and not many want or can afford after it all most likely!

So don’t apply then, it’s not compulsory.;)
Kit prices have already been inflated, so I doubt they’ll go further on the back of this.

I posted about it as I suspect most won’t have heard about it, as it seems to have been slipped out quietly. It may be of interest to those less cynical.

It’s money from the pot, created from the 15% modulation that was held back from our SFP. Apparently uptake of schemes like the yard covering grant have been so low, they had to think of another way to hand it out.

Yes possibly.
Some just buy for sake of it because of a so called grant also.
Often those that need, and can't afford miss out possibly too.

If the rules and conditions are as bad as they are over the Border, I am not surprised!

I was approved for a project then on looking closely at teh T&C, I walked away :( Still annoyed at that one....

Open until 29th June 2022, any idea if their doing more windows and when they are? Few items of interest for sure, shame I’ve bought a pile of qualified stuff over the last 2 years when no grants 🤦🏻‍♂️
