Details on Frome markets FB page.

But basically all prime/ cull cattle comm is capped at £35 head and if you buy more than 50 store cattle/ stirks or calves in a year from the market and sell more than 50 prime/cull or store cattle a year at the market they will take £5 head off the prime/cull or store cattle comm you pay as well.

( that is how i read it )
They're not the only ones with a set commission but the other part is interesting, might encourage regular buyers to take them back.

I’m just hoping the prime cattle and bulls bring back is the usual sniffle before the lift
I hope so too. Scott is blaming staffing issues in the mart report for the dip, how to get round that I don’t know, but if so at least the demand is still there which gives hope. Speaking to an abattoir man this afternoon, he said he would be surprised if firms pulled prices next week, the reality of our situation has sunk in apparently. He had looked and appreciates their bid price is only 10% higher than the same week last year. Export to Europe is strong, they are very short of beef. This firm supplies very little to Supermarkets though, so doesn’t know what kind of pressure they are applying but if the Irish firms can make more money of it into Europe, that’s where it’ll go I’m sure meaning they will have to pay

I did hear somewhere that abp were getting concerned about supply of beef to keep their outfits going
Pretty ironic I know
Sometimes the dip is tactical to draw a few more cattle through a tight spot
I hope anyway

It’s about time we started to be price setters not takers. We know there isn’t a huge amount of beef about so now is the time to make a stand. Big suppliers need to start saying its £5/kg or they stay where they are. We don’t get to take fert or fuel at a reduced cost. Everyone else’s costs are going up and they just clag it onto the end price. If they can’t afford and don’t want it its maby time we stopped producing it!

Not exactly been a bad trade the last few years have they?
Last year was a good do on the sheep job but the previous few years the job would only have been average at best, for 2/3 years after the brexit vote ( but before brexit kicked in ) the lamb prime price was a good £20 head less than it should have been on the exchange rate/ French prices etc at that time!

How far short do you think these cattle were sold you are on about??
I never said they were sold short! GUTH just listens to other people gossiping and draws his own conclusions. All I know is that they would leave an awful lot more margin than fattening them to sell at two years old. From that I conclude that GUTH is an idiot.
