Did in Hfd up till Covid but all through the ring now . It's a lot better and everyone can see them and not just the ones stood by the pen. I think it goes a lot quicker but it is labour intensive .
I thought the fat and culls are still sold in the pens? It's a lot better job through the ring with stores and breeders though but there are a lot more buyers for those. It used to be a right scrum to keep up with the auctioneer in the pens.

It doesn’t….it needs over hauling and altering that’s all. In general a race works better in my opinion
Whilst I was stood watching hoggs not moving up the sorting pen I was talking to a chap who said back when they sold in pens there were certain buyers who would stand next to the pens they wanted and it stopped others bidding against him so basically set the price. If that’s true it’s got to be better that they go through a ring

Yes they are ... only store in the ring .
...haven't got crowd's of nosey onlookers in the fat and cull alley ways ....just the buyers and the odd farmer or 2 who is afraid they might sell for 20p a life cheaper if they aren't stood in the way 🙂🙂

That's my thoughts too.

The wheels are going to fall off at some point.

Heard some supermarkets are taking anti looting measures. So they can basically press a button and barriers come down and shops sealed.
Could do with that on our chicken coops around here, three lots been taken this last month during the night. Why i dont know when chicken is cheap really.

I’m beginning to think a Labour government would have our backs more tbh torys lost the way seem to be backing multi billionaires and bankers and not bothered about our own industry’s or working class people
If anything the lib dems seem more interested in farming , labour are always dead keen to throw money at the poor rather than encourage them to work for a living. As a tory voter who cant be bothered to vote anymore i think there all over paid, two faced and out of touch.

They went up a lot in my estimations when Ed Davey questioned Boris on the current situation.

He obviously understood and Boris doesn't. Just gave some waffle about trade deals.

That’s exactly why I think they are better sold through a race

Was only a 18 ton , imagine these 750 hp timber artics giving it the big toe all day grossing 44 ton
I wouldnt be too bothered if some of them feckers went bang to be honest. Constant stream past me into Egger. First load past at 3am tonning it.In fact they ton it everywhere. Got sandwiched inbetween two of them from Brampton to Longtown one day.Fully laden, they were touching 70mph on the straight bits.
