"coming across Bullish and arrogant" are not how i saw him, He is neither,
He just doesnt suffer fools.
He did too much because the EA didnt do anywhere near enough is the way i look at it. Criminal that the EA allowed one arch of a three arch bridge to remain blocked for years, everybody who flooded upstream ought to be due compensation from the EA. If they had done their job Mr P wouldnt have had to try and do it for them.

Having spent best part of £35k on a renewable energy project that was rejected because of nimby and banana (build absolutely nothing anywhere near anywhere) types, the Majority of whom didn’t live anywhere near us (London, Brighton, York 🙄) and a majority of local objectors who have since moved away, your stance strikes a nerve.

Incapable of seeing beyond sensational headlines and the squawking of individuals and charitable organisations who make tidy livings through stirring up antagonism where none would otherwise exist. You see “rich farmer flouts law for own ends” coz that’s what your bubble tells you. Many members here will see “exasperated farmer hung out to dry for carrying out much needed remedial work to protect farmland and benefit wider community”

I’d love to know what your day job is.

assuming your in tier 1 of society ie 4/5 day week, never work a weekend, overtime a swear word, 28+ days holiday, bank holidays off 1 or 2 “well deserved” foreign hols a year. Mooch about places on your many days off, probably in expensive oil based berghaus gear, pontificating on rewilding, hedgerow loss and species decline and the effect of “industrial agriculture” on the environment. Then hop back in the car and head back to an environment made completely of concrete and tar, oblivious of the utter hypocrisy.
Everyone’s entitled to act stupid once in a while, but you really abuse the privilege :)

Of illegally destroying an SSSI yes, though I'd imagine he may be reviewing his actions in the light of facing a very hefty fine, remedial work bill and prison time. On reflection it probably wasn't the best decision he's ever made in his life...
Hefty fine, yes. Suspended sentence at worst imo and i fail to see what remedial work can be done that wouldnt cause the same harm that they are accusing Mr P of doing. I wonder if the remedial work will include tipping 40t of silt/debris back under the bridge arch to block flow or will they pay Mr P for some of the good work he did.

Naaa, he's a top man. SSSI are a load of shite anyway! 😀
SSSI's and rewilding etc are all well and good, except, firstly people need to eat food, and food production obviously has an environmental cost, even if it is only a "lost opportunity" cost for nature, and I say that as an organic farmer, who has planted a shed load of hedges. And secondly, the pillar or foundation of society is rights of ownership, and ownership of land is being undermined by environmental rules often set and administered by unelected government bodies.

His statements at the time tell a slightly different story...

“They are not going to beat me,” Mr Price said.

“They don’t know who they’ve taken on here. I’ll pull them apart.

“They’ll know who I am by the time I’ve finished with them.

“I’ll look after the local Environment Agency and Forestry Commission.

“I’m not happy about this. I’ll get them to lose their jobs.”
I like him more now 👍😀

The difference here is that he has actually admitted to doing the work. That point has never been in doubt by either side.
so, the case could be construed as the rules which he didn't obey are wrong, rather than he was wrong for not following the rules. Question for you, was Rosa Parks wrong for not vacating her seat? Or has history shown us that the rules on segregation were themselves wrong?

Maybe history will remember Mr. Price as a wronged martyr and statues will be erected in his memory... but for know he's nowt more than a common criminal who has damaged the reputation of farmers and farming.

What are your views on the unrecorded sewage discharge from water
treatment companies ?This has led to distorted and miscalculated phosphate
pollution figures resulting in agriculture taking most of the blame.

It took the flooding of the Somerset Levels to expose the idiots at the Environment Agency yet no one from EA ever got fined for their incompetance. Maybe another good flood down the river Lugg will have a similar consequence. Certainly the locals were very happy about the anti flooding measures which had been carried out and have saved their properties from subsequent flooding.
