I think you mean 'was'.
A rivers main priority is to move water everything else should come second
as I’ve said before my fil started with a water authority at 15 and retired from the same place at 60 by which time he was in charge of 5/6 gangs which most had worked there all their time those guys knew every corner on their rivers that silted up, cut trees and willows and regular dredged where ever needed it
those guys will have forgotten more than the ea/ you and your mate r sole

What are your views on the unrecorded sewage discharge from water
treatment companies ?This has led to distorted and miscalculated phosphate
pollution figures resulting in agriculture taking most of the blame.
My views on sewage discharges are that they are a disgrace and incredibly damaging to our rivers. There is an increasing amount of monitoring of these discharges and I think it is fairly well understood that it is water companies rather than agriculture causing the pollution figures you reference. Water companies need to be legislated against to stop this.
Farming does however not have an unblemished record for waterway pollution incidents (slurry spills etc.) but they pale by comparison with what is quite literally the sh!t water companies are freely emptying into our rivers.

A fair answer but it is only very recently that the data is being re examined
again regarding the water companies discharge paperwork .It was being accepted
as honest and true by the authorities working out who the main culprit was until
along came some whistleblowers.

Maybe history will remember Mr. Price as a wronged martyr and statues will be erected in his memory... but for know he's nowt more than a common criminal who has damaged the reputation of farmers and farming.
It was reported at the time that there was a meeting and he was given the go ahead to do the work, what happened in court for them to ignore that? must have been a denial somewhere surely?

He was given verbal consent to clear one of the bridge arches and carryout bank re-profiling work immediately upstream of the arch on one bank.
The works he actually did extended 1.5km from the bridge on both banks and the actual river bed.
He then subsequently carried out further work after having being issued with a Stop Notice.

No the court case so far has only been whether he admits to doing the work which obviously he cannot deny. The next hearing will be the mitigating circumstances which should include all the instructions from the various parties to carry out the work but we should not speculate on what that evidence should be as thats for the court to hear and make its own decision.

You seem very well informed on the details. Can you share where you’ve got this from?

Nope, sorry...
He's admitted guilt so the next hearing will be sentencing.

I hope you will agree then that phosphate pollution should be
dealt with at the source of the problem and not allowed to be offset like some
local developers would like.

Share links please. I wouldn’t know what to google regarding the legislative system in a different country to mine.
Just Google 'John Price River Lugg' and take your pick... the case has been widely reported on by a wide variety of online organisations of all different political leanings plus the official court reports etc. are available on line.

We used to have a council guy .John the road man he kept roads drains etc right if anyone knew of a problem tell John he fixed it must have saved the council a fortune when he retired his job disappeared boy is he missed now
Same here. When we were young we use to call him Mr Roadman and he knew every square inch of his alloted area .He ensured all ditches and drains were maintained without fail and now, sadly, roadside ditches are silted up creating more surface water on the roads and the resulting potholes.

The reason farmers take things into their own hands is because the EA leave them with no option. The complete lack of action when questioned time and time again becomes intolerable. They have ruined our river. It needs banks re profiling and dredging but they will never do it. They won’t even clear the trees anymore. All you see them doing is pratting about trimming a few willow branches.
