There was potato blight throughout Europe, due largely a dependence on a very small gene pool showing no resistance to phytophthera infestans. Many people were starving and many emmigrated to the US and England, My great grandmother`s family came to England from Germany in the mid 19th century for just that reason, Other branches of the family emigrated to America. The situation in Ireland was exhaserbated by a feudal system which not only involved British landowners but Anglo Irish landlords, Nobody can be proud of this but the Westminster government of the time was onto the case. Unfortunately it was too little too late.
Boudiccca was a Celt who upset the invading Romans a little and was Queen of the Iceni in East Anglia. There was more trouble to come and my family were probably descended from Norwegian vikings. Why not forget all that stuff and realise that things have moved on . We all need each other but there are certain factions today that think they need everthing.And... at least one Anglo-Celt too.

I qualified on grounds of birth but there were ability problems that held me back.
I had a good friend at school in the Fens (March) whose father was from Yorkshire. I was rather amused when we were about 16 if I recall and he told me that he his father had insisted his mother return to Scarboro four weeks before his due birth date to ensure he was born in Yorkshire and thus could play County Cricket if he were good enough. I then began to understand a little more about the jokes about Yorkshire.
They did have a better cricket team when they played with pride in their county.
Its like a Ukrainian fleeing to Russia during the holodomor.
