thought you had trouble rearing calves, these look alright, except for 1 little thing, lacking in ear tags perhaps ? If you want to register them, could be a problem, with who had what calf.
As long as a nice sheltered field, or somewhere they can shelter, if weather turns bad, they should be fine.

They do actually all have 1 tag and they're registered, just couldn't find my pen to write on the eid tags (write their pedigree name on them), but if red tractor is looking they're all only 20 days old..
Thanks as well, I can rear them decently well I think, just have problems keeping them alive for the first few weeks, get past that and they zoom on

Shelter will be the problem, there's very little in the way of it which is why I was waiting for a dry week or two in the hopes they'll be ok

that's all right then, RT had a moan one time, p/ports didn't have a sticker :banghead: :banghead::banghead:
glad to see, and hear, your calves are getting on, still reckon your problems were 'management' though. I know it can be a nightmare, when things go wrong, l used to rear 6/700 a year, all bought in, and things easily go very quickly wrong, Just bought 70 beef calves, all from different farms, makes you keep your wits about you, but as long as the basics are correct, that is half the battle.
Son took a chance, on a 5 AA bull calves, £12 /head. They are going full speed, wished he'd bought the hfrs, for less, as well !!!!!!

Twice as much first cut a week earlier than last year. Weather annoying but fine. Two umbilical systems tomorrow and fert on Friday. Ready for a winter of excitement
Few farms around here changing over from tyres to sidewalls and I'm keen to do the same. How do they stand up to the wind?

How do I politely tell a parasite to p*ss off?
I have 1 who phones me every other week trying to sell me stuff (my answer is always no and if I want something I'll phone you)
If I miss his phone call he turns up here an I have a job to get rid of him
I've had a load of problems this morning and really haven't got time today so just need to get him gone asap

Stop being polite. Sometimes it's the only way, let a few f's off to them.

We use a secure cover and side walls touching each other and the wind will lift them but we do get a fair strength of wind from time to time.

Perhaps you're right, don't like getting cross, dreading the next few days as now arla have announced a milk price increase I'm going to have an influx of the buggers trying to steal the money from my account before it even hits it
just say you would love to try, but can't afford, can they give you some free of charge ..............
and then say f-off. And walk away.

thinking on, we seem to be having a few more cold calling reps, but they have to be incredibly good value, to get an order from us, might even find it easier getting blood out of a stone.
