Massey 6480 t3 just gone really aggressive and jerky on the shuttle and clutch at bottom

Half way through bailing yesterday the shuttle has gone really aggressive even if you use the clutch makes no real difference.

Any ideas?
I'm thinking clutch packs?
Also won't calibrate by holding shuttle above foreward and diff lock button just comes up CP on rh dash screen.

sorry just re read that only on clutch to be fair the shuttle was ok even when hot,

is it doing it now its cooled off?

Could be a failed Bellville spring in a clutch pack. Might be a solenoid. Could be the damper plate. Or something else entirely. Bottom of clutch switch? That depends on which version is fitted, as it has been done away with in some cases.

Is it the same pack for both forwards and reverse? Or would you expect 1 direction to have gone before the other?

Any switches, would that still make it jerky without using clutch?

Clutch has the arm type potentiometer.

We think the spools aren't as fast, can anything be related?

Definately not same as mine then, mine only did it hot.

to check the clutch switches don’t operate the clutch and just use shuttle for forward and reverse at low speed if it’s still jerky then clutch switches likely to be ok. Beyond that prob inside box imagine?

I bet it’s either bevelle springs in clutch pack or either of the clutch switch’s. The fact it won’t calibrate I’m leaning towards beville springs, when shuttling in say 2a and put it in neutral is there drag as in the tractor as in wants to move slightly forward or backwards from the opposite direction You were shuttling from, if so then springs have probably collapsed.

The Belleville washers have gone in my 5455 twice now, at 500hrs and 17,500 hrs. Both times it was the forward clutch pack and it would only drive backwards, no matter what position the shuttle was in. It is speedshift so we could at least knock it into neutral to use linkage.

Got tractor at 37 degrees.
Held over forwards and diff, It never brought the numbwr lights up but came up CP I think, I let the shuttle to n and let go of diff. As I felt engine change note as it did something, then had tp up and could not select any gears. It then had tr up still no gears.
Turned off and on works now but just the same jerky
Think it's a split job to see beliville washers.

Why did you ask about brakes what's the thinking with them?

Got error t2.13 up now if that's related?
This can come up during calibration it's an error relating to the intermediate sensor but doesn't stop the tractor calibrating

The reason I asked about the brakes is I have seen these gone on tractors which contaminates the oil causing the shuttle to get very aggressive.

Before you start splitting the tractor place it in 1a f/r in neutral and handbrake off on a level piece of ground. If it moves in either direction then you have a broken spring in the pack of the direction it's moving.

Why not drop a few filters and cut them open to have a look,

I got a filter light when brakes went on mine but it’s tier 2 one hydraulic filter looked ok as it was really fine swarf, when I cut open main filter you could see bits of brake material in it, it’s not a big job to do them, and not very dear if it’s just the material disks worn
