Right, time too wade into it.
If you value your buyers it’s YOUR JOB too find them with the luck. Or you leave it in the office in a little envelope with your name on. There are auctioneers and mart staff that can point you too the buyers around the ring. Buyers haven’t time too be chasing you around for luck, they are busy BUYING! and they remember who runs off without giving luck. I certainly do. And when you’re next in don’t be surprised if that buyer won’t push that last £1 bid, because I don’t. If someone gives me even just £2 on a pen of lambs I feel they stand behind those sheep to go on and do. So the next time I’ll push on too help them out.

Now for some prices;

Numbers are well down, hence the good trade being had. But it is nearly June!! So they should be a damn good price!

Plenty of money made out of farming but not much money made from farming.
I have been shearing for 4 days (1100 hoggs) days in one shed and earnt more then I did lambing for 6 weeks :rolleyes:
Years ago I got asked to do some contract work for a borehole drilling outfit. Supplying water with a slurry tanker and leading sludge and drilling’s away. I couldn’t believe how easy making money out of this type of work was. Hourly rate minimum hours call out I often used to compare it to a day or week of muckspreading or similar where I used 10 times the diesel and got nothing at the end of it

That be me 😅😂
I have paid luck before but only on the hand full of times Iv seen sheep sell I don’t really see the point of paying it if your not there too hand it over yourself… but too go up too somebody and be like “oi where’s my luck money at?” Is just f**king cheeky

I've never gone up to somebody and asked for luck, but if they don't give any I don't forget;)

I'd be setting your stall out for a large rise next year. I remember an old boss telling me as a student that lambing wasn't 'a skilled job like a tractorman'. I invited him to get someone off the street if he thought they could do what I did. I got my raise...

Sadly there my own ewes or contract shepherded, neither look like a raise is likely until the store lamb price is massive this year.

Russia reckons they are going to open the ports so grain can start to be exported, think i read 17 super tanker types are waiting to dock. Feed prices might not be so dear after all this winter!
I thought they were covered in mines?its all a ploy so Russia can start in fighting within the EU.
