Plus our SPP is usually 30ppkg ahead of the German price. Means ours should be in the 180's with more to come. Quite frankly we need to be well over 220ppkg to make it worth considering continuing.Cull sows booked in this week, up 50p from our last load a month or two ago.
Some bonkers numbers being quoted on the continent; SPP stubbornly low...
From 3 weeks ago, SPP 138, German 104

It has to......Yeh, I'm assuming the UK price is just about to go into orbit, as they say in other parts of this forum. It needs to, but it may not...
Sooner would be nice.I had to order more cereals today, I am hoping that the price of pigs begins orbiting within the next 28 days.
Getting desperate now.Sooner would be nice.
My problem is that if I destock I couldn't afford to restock, keep my chaps and so forth. This is a one-time decision for me at age 61 and the rest of the farm won't provide enough for me and the wife to live on.Rumour that abattoirs can’t sell uk product as foreign is cheaper. Ive heard one will reduce their kill again.
Demand down across Europe as price conscious consumers eating less.
Next 4-6 months will take more units out. But why would anyone carry on losing money like this when they could destock and sit empty for a few months then restock. It’s not like you would miss out on big profits with grain at these prices
from a business point of view, l would have thought better to keep holiday makers money, here in the UK, rather than export it, and tell the Spanish, to stuff their pork.I heard a rumor part of the problem is boris made a trade deal with spain , holiday makers easy access , in return we take their pork and thats why their is staff shortages in abattoirs here , as alot went to Spanish abattoirs . Just rumour i dont know ???
If its true absolutely! When they were semi trapped last summer i loads of bookings holiday let , this year … ticking away but nothing special .from a business point of view, l would have thought better to keep holiday makers money, here in the UK, rather than export it, and tell the Spanish, to stuff their pork.
That's the way any sensible person would see it - problem is that there's just no joined up thinking in Westminsterfrom a business point of view, l would have thought better to keep holiday makers money, here in the UK, rather than export it, and tell the Spanish, to stuff their pork.
quite like to tell them to stuff it, as well, but, alas cannot. That's the way any sensible person would see it - problem is that there's just no joined up thinking in Westminster
My sister has a place down in southern Spain and when driving from Murcia airport you see a few pig farms in amongst the vegetables but I would be surprised if they are exporters, think they will be in as much trouble as our producers. If its true absolutely! The Spanish pig industry has expanded in the last 2 years, for some reason pig farmers there don't think that the hog cycle applies to them.My sister has a place down in southern Spain and when driving from Murcia airport you see a few pig farms in amongst the vegetables but I would be surprised if they are exporters, think they will be in as much trouble as our producers.
The barstewards .Boris will have seen the above graph and then decided that we needed a new source of pork as the UK producers don't seem to be able to produce more than 40% of what the country needs - as our German friends seem to be throwing in the towel too.
The pig market is so far ahead of the rest of the UK Ag industry in Government policy - introduce unilateral welfare restrictions (1999) refuse to allow British advertising with the levy money (when we were in the EU) Allow imports to arrive unchecked and without paperwork (now and forever?)
Watch out the rest of the UK Ag, this can (and will) happen to you.
