One justification was we only keep dairy out 4% of the time vs 80% plus or what have you. Irony being the RSPCA are often a barrier to keeping things outdoors in the British winter

New Zealand has lead the way in livestock breed improvement for some time now and that is a huge nbenifit to animal welfare and its poor show to be running them down and the below is just for balance.

I'd say we're all (uk,nz,oz,us etc.) Equally looking to improve animal welfare. The consumer demands it. I get a bit sick of the whole were better, their better crap. Would rather stock farmers globally were united and shared ideas/systems to created a united front against the anti meat agenda. Given numnuts (pain relief ring applicator capable of injecting anaesthetic without applying the ring) is approved in NZ I can see it being mandatory to anaesthetise prior to docking or castrating (sheep and cattle). Won't be long before it's the same here.

I would argue that most folk that think the uk has high welfare and NZ low welfare when it comes to live stock ...... are mostly folk that are scared of what NZ can produce, and have an over inflated idea of UK welfare.

Can anyone that thinks it, actually explain how they have lower welfare in NZ?

Just in case anyone isn’t bright enough to work it out. The rspca are anti farming. If they can claim that we can import better higher welfare produce for cheaper, they might get lucky and find an end to uk ag.

I don't think it is lower welfare per se. I do think if the RSPCA set up in NZ tonight and applied thier foolishness to NZ farming NZ would then come up short in comparison to the stupidity adapted UK.

To take it a stage further, cruelty requires human/animal interaction. ARs types are at best anti animal/human interaction and at worst anti human

RSPCA exist in NZ (and Australia). Unlike UK, in both other countries they have statutory powers granted through legislation.

I know they have thier version, they do not have ours and nor do they have the great british public. "Oh look animals outdoors, call the RSPCA" "Oh look, animals locked in a shed call the RSPCA"
