As above , it is Sorrel. Very common in old pastures, particularly where hay has been regularly made.

I'd go with that. If anyone is thinking it is a curly leaved dock you would be forgiven because sorrel is very closely related to docks as they are in the same family.

I honestly couldn't say, I presume they seed very profligately if they are anything like docks.

We get it in our haylage. Horses seem not to mind it and I watched one of the stallions nibbling off the seed heads in his paddock yesterday. There does seem a lot this year where we haven't grazed the sheep.
