Another inch this morning, how are people getting on with their silage,
Its a right struggle here in cumbria.
we arent ready yet thankfully but the dairy fellas are having a bit of a fight, its a good job there are modern machinery nowadays , they will do 200 acre in 24hrs but its still hard on the workers having to work through the nights to beat the weather.

Around here in Central Scotland its been very dry for the last 10 days, missed the showers, all the dairy boys got a great go, no one starts baling around my area till after the Highland show, unless the weather is brilliant, abit rain this morning, drizzle, l put in 25 acre of rape n grass yesterday, worked away and rolled it till 12 last night, so it's getn a wee drink this morning

We never mow until mid to late July , never have the grass, bit of rain helping us here but really need some warmth

Yes a bit of warmth is what we need really to get the lambs moving, plenty grass though, although it is slowing up since its gone cold again.

Folk are snatching their silage down here, not ideal but they are getting it in.

Roughly which part of Cumbria, I grew up in the south lakes , have grass envy when I go “home” to visit, need the weather though wherever we farm

Defo no hay weather, but if the spell we've had had been in a months time hay could have been made, hopefully that's to come yet.

We baled 35ac haylage yesterday, cut on Friday, it was around 20% moisture.

We got half an inch of steady rain from 6 this morning to midday, ideal.

That would be nice stuff, Scotland sometime not so bad after all, the crop would be decent aswell. I just cut it once but another 10day and if the weather was good l will make a start.

I couldn't bare to let good weather go past without doing at least some of it.

Managed to cut a few fields and get it baled a week ago…looks dry after today to start on the rest

Vast majority of the dairy men around here have had first cut done now. Bumper crops, pits full too bursting. Very snatchy now though for haylage boys wanting too get started. Mine won’t be ready till first week of July. Sheep eat all the “first cut” here

Saw a fella wrappin this morning, said he had real heavy crop, 80 bales off 5 acres.
Wonder if it would be too wet in reality.

Yes maybe, got alot of rushes sprayed at weekend aswell so thank goodness for having no rain for awhile.

Same here, although had a good downpour this afternoon. Burns all dry and springs stopped for the time being

Inwas hoping for some real rain today bit for about two hrs drizzel , jed kelso got good soaking but we missed it .
