Just doing a field for whole crop it’s permanent grass at the moment I’m going to drill with Weaving gd would you spray glyphosate before drilling or after pre em? I’m not too worried about the peas but a little worried about the oats being affected by dying grass

21st march Sprayed off permanent pasture.

Sheep grazed for 10 days before drilling .

8th April DD spring wheat and Pea mix into burn off pasture lime on same day as drilling coincidentally.

Ring rolled 9th April

Shut gate...... Till harvest...... IMG_20220408_185557206_HDR.jpgIMG_20220408_185608416.jpgIMG_20220408_190127487.jpgScreenshot_20220423-130438.pngIMG_20220408_190323433_HDR.jpg

I bet within 3 weeks you won't recognise that field.

How's other people's Direct drilled wholecrop looking?

Bit disappointed in mine. Quite thin not really taken across the whole field which has turned it quite weedy when you get into the field. Looks good from the gate mind!

Flag leaf on the wheat had turned yellow. No sign of any grain forming yet .

Did you soil test the field prior to drilling etc? Has it had any nitrogen?

Yea but can't for the life of me find where the piece of paper is now 🤦

Got an agronomist to cast his eye over it early last week. Spot of mildew appearing at the bottom of the stem and the yellowish leaf said was just the massive growth spurt it's going through. Was quite happy with how it looked.

Recommend we applied a foliar feed. So contractor came in and applied- IMG_20220615_145855693.jpg

Looks really well. The heat of last week and the rain over the weekend 👌 peas are starting to flower and you can feel the grain forming in the stem now too.

Second cut was done last week so hopefully it'll be ready same time as 3rd cut in 4-5weeks. 🤔
