Just seen this on Facebook, I don't really know what to say, actually speechless!

Does anyone know the best place to advertise some very friendly rare breed whethers? They’re just too kind to go for the chop

. Not sure where to advertise them, they’re perfect for smallholders.

Could be a clever marketing ploy, get twice as much selling them for pets than what they're worth fat?

Someone advertising castrated rams for "rehoming" the other day. Maybe the same ones. I was told a dinmont (2 year old castrated sheep) was probably the best mutton for taste....but I never said that!

Some people keep sheep as pets without wanting the hassle of breeding. I would have thought this was just one of those cases?

My neighbour keeps about twenty Texel ewes on his smallholding. None have had lambs for the past three years! :scratchhead:

I shear a few for a good friend whose mum keeps them as pets, she started off with about 15, then the neighbours ram broke in and she ended up with a few more. Then they didn’t ring a wee midget and they ended up with a few more. They topped out around thirty but thankfully old age is starting to thin them out.

Lass in my village has 10 pets ,,they were cades when she got them ,,they are just paddock mowers .
Shes a devout vegan and me asking wheres the mint sauce didnt go down to well

Does she get them sheared? Lot of vegans are anti shearing but I can't understand how they can square that from a welfare point of view.

Some have to re-home dogs/sheep/cats for a variety of reasons?

Surely a non story?

It would be best if they choose shedders though.

I've sheared a few pet sheep over the years and they're always terrible, or maybe it's just my bad technique? But they're generally very fat and tame.

1 massive texel x wether was 4, and must have been 150+kg. He was harness trained and sheared standing up.
