Still no rain here, dry as a chip.

Cocksfoot, chicory and maize look well. Everything else any good has stopped.
after 4 dry summers, in the last 5 years, you have to change, the solution, is right in front of us, you get to see what actually grows, when its dry. We have had good results with plantain, as well, and l think the diverse ley, for us, is probably the right way to go, but it goes against what, l was taught, and practiced, for best part of 50 yrs.
Also realising, slowly, that while we lack rainfall, being exposed, on our hills, its the drying wind, that finishes us off.
Have also realised the benefits of ground cover, where there is, as in our corn, there isn't the same effect, as if none.
But its a barsteward, being short of grass, and its happening more often. And yet, next few years, could be really wet ones, its the not knowing, that's the bugger.

Who did your milking? Drove past your front door yesterday 😁 well I saw your sign!
Bugger, past the lane or into the yard? Next time you're around let me know and you can have a guided tour of the circus/farm!

I've got a relief who comes in 2 evenings a week and I booked them up a few months ago to milk for me, and since you never know who's lurking on here, if you're reading this thankyou so much I really appreciate it. Dad scraped up and put silage in for me and I had another friend come in and feed calves, check the heifers etc

All seemed to go 90% to plan which is good!
