    weaving tine drill

Having used the tine drill for 3 years I would say no to dd, not enough weight, not enough spring tension and coulters too wide, great for min till etc, now run Sabre tine, seed placement far better and can be used in any system.

My plan to enter the DD world

Was doing it for 3 years, ww, wosr, sbeans a n wbeans in the rotation, just come to the conclusion the downsides outway the upsides and a pass with a Trio is the best money spent on the coming crop.

Pig mans is all reasonably heavy so in answer we have some lighter but some even heavier.

NW Lincolnshire, land type variable, extream heavy to blow sand, not particularly free draining.

No problems so far with trash, the mounted Dale isn't a direct drill, this is,same tines as the trailed Dale.

We went for a 6m Weaving Sabre drill, brilliant for conventional drilling but can also DD in the right conditions.

Weeds seem to love it,unfortunately the crops we rely on for income don't in wet years lol.

My plan to enter the DD world

It wasn't in a bad way before, just proved in a wet year nature can't do everything, remove compaction etc, still got a direct drill so in the right conditions in the future might risk an area but whole farm every year has proved a no no.

No wheat lost to conventional systems round here last year but 80% lost in DD,simply the water couldn't get away from the seeding zone.

Couldn't risk it this year, land in such a bad state after 3 years DD,sad stale and anaerobic, used a Sumo Trio on it all to breath some life back into it.

Very true,we found you save £30 ac in establishing the crop but losing £100 ac in other ways.

Never stood a chance round here last year,if the seed didnt drown the slugs got it,80% ww failed.

    Liquid Fert on Grassland

Agree with your points but on a cost basis it usually works out around UK solid product prices.

    Yellow wheat

Later drilled wheat on the medium land taking a hammering here where Vigon or even Liberator was used pre-em.
