    Mesh Dog Run?

Where would I go to buy galvanised mesh panels, one with a gate, to build a dog run? (I've tried a couple of places found on Google but they stop returning my calls when they find out I'm in Scotland!)

    Beeston Market

and does that cooperative and awarding a contract system seem to work ok there? Just asking to compare with what happens in Oban.

    Where are you?

    Beeston Market

Don't think they own it, just awarded the contract to run the auctions. When Cally Marts went bust they asked for tenders & UA got it. (Beats me why - gives them the monopoly locally)

Top 3 tractors of all time?

Nothing should make anyone's list if it can't be repaired at home. To make my list it also needs to turn in a small space, be light on wet ground & not depreciate in value, so- MF 35 (3 cylinder perkins version) MF 135 Don't need a third.

A Stupid Question What Do People Eat?

I do a bit of fishing, just off the local rocks with a line. My favourite dinner is to fillet a freshly caught fish while Mrs Lard walks up the back & picks whatever veg is growing. I have a pan of water boiling by the time she gets back. No air miles & takes as long to cook as unpacking a...

A Stupid Question What Do People Eat?

Amazes me how many people don't / won't cook & think of cooking as not just difficult but impossibly time-consuming & therefore for the fortunate or rich. An old school friend of Mrs Lard's came to stay a few days & told us "you eat well" meant as a sneer, as in "you're more fortunate than us"...

    Buildings and contents insurance

No, definitely metres. One much bigger than the other because you are meant to budget for rebuilding stone buildings in stone because stone outbuildings have conversion potential therefore an asset . Just what we were told when ringing round.

    Buildings and contents insurance

I've no idea if it's true but we were told to allow £70 per square metre for modern metal sheds and £200/m2 for stone. Then we added a % because it costs to bring materials to a remote place. However, we're on a much smaller scale than you. On a big farm a small % error would put you way out &...

    Good service

Rekord, Warwickshire. Supplied a new baler, delivered it in person, fixed our tractor hydraulics (!), stayed all day to make sure working ok (& we are NOT easy to get to.). Pleasant, competitive rates, available easily if spares needed. Clarke & Pulman, Lancashire. Tractor parts. Competitive...

    Suzuki Jimny Pickups

A friend of ours tried to get a brand new Jimny & was told there's a 18month waiting list!

    Suzuki Jimny Pickups

We use a Jimny with the back seats taken out & a floor to roof dog-guard between the front seats & load area. Makes a great 2-seater "pick-up" & is classed as standard for insurance purposes. Locks properly too, so you can park it in town with your shopping in the back! (They don't make a diesel...

    Buildings and contents insurance

Speaking personally, we weren't just looking for the lowest price so you might have lost our business unnecessarily . We want a good on-going relationship with someone who'll talk to us about what we need & maybe recommend changes from year to year. H & H weren't our lowest quote. I understand...
