Firstly check the clutch spring isn't broken or not connected. If it's OK then check out the pulley/idler wheels for the drive belt, you really need to drop the cutter deck to see what's going on - levers and springs! Photo below is best I can find to illustrate, might not be the

Makita garden strimmer has been playing up lately and decided it didn't owe me anything, must have had it 10+ years. Quick Google and I bought what seemed the nearest new model.
Arrived yesterday - £110 including next day delivery, pretty sure the old one was nearer £200. For the price I was...
When we moved here some 20 odd years ago I bought a seconhand Hayter ( rebadged Countax), it’s still running but now consigned to harrowing the horse ménage. Bought 2 more secondhand Countax in the intervening years (300 and 500), both still running fine BUT have spend a fair bit of time keeping...
As said, a full set of 3 taps and corresponding die would be very expensive, if money no object a full set in a box (or boxes)would be very nice - check our Sherwood. RGD tools, Presto or Cromwel who are reputable makes. Personally I decided on Sherwood and kept an eye on EBay and gradually...
Smith and Allen do it - see link above, also Morris Lubricants
https://www.morrislubricantsonline.co.uk/agrimax-super-farm-10w-30-universal-tractor-oil.html?variation_id=1463
They also do 15-30, price seems very steep online, sure my local agricultural dealer is cheaper although last two lots...
Thanks all for the replies.
Left the borehole pump running for a good few hours on Saturday and went up to check on Sunday and it was 3/4 full and getting normal good pressure back at the house ( height difference between and house is well over 100ft and last time I fitted a pressure gauge to...
OK, probably qualifies for dumb post of the day….
We share a water supply with a neighbour - our small farm was part of a much larger farm, when it was sold we bought the farmhouse and some land and neighbour bought the other land. Water supply is a borehole near to the farmhouse which pumps...
I did the same when we moved here 20 years ago. Used 2 x 2's and 50mm Kingspan . Obviously thicker insulation better but then you reduce room width. Things to bare in mind are getting battens level and vertical and horizontal, you need to pack out behind the fastenings (I used 100mm frame...
They might do but would like to know what’s happening about the overheating problem first!
But being charitable - sounds like You’ve got water in there, drain and replace with fresh is the first solution, and replace any filters ( dont know the 990, so join the `FB David Brown Tractor...
Don’t they ever! I bought a couple of 20 tonne loads last year, used about half and the remaining half got left until I tried to load them a month or so back to fill some potholes - could barely scrape the surface with the loader on my old DB 1390. Neighbour managed to loosen up a bit using his...
Another possibility - OP mentioned in his first post that there was black gunge on the thermostat when he inspected. Could same gunge be fouling the water pump impellor?
You‘ve said previously that you took the the thermostat out and cranked over the engine and water shot out? In my admittedly limited experience that doesn’t sound right, what I’ve seen is you just see a “swirling” of water at the top of the radiator.
The fact it does shoot out that suggests...
