We’ve been using them for on the low ground, got up to 2shears lambing now. I have the bright ideas, brother finds all the faults. This is one breed that he still actually likes. Not too big, good mothers and plenty of milk. And quieter than the cheviots that they’re bred from
Seems a shame to bring them down to paddle round a wet field to lamb, they can always find some shelter on the hill even on a night like last night. But we lose too many to predators when we try and lamb on the hill. This one beat me to it when I gathered.
I saw a few in Skipton as I dropped some off. Pure Charolais spring lambs 43-48kg £190-210. Dalesbred hoggs 31kg £80, 33kg £86. Plain texel hogs £3.60-3.80/kg
Fresh leg of New Zealand lamb in Sainsbury's £6.50/kg, big promotion on. It says in small print previously frozen, but it also has the symbol for suitable for freezing 🤔🤷

The cut off score for acceptances was 42, but that could be different depending on the number...

I was at a Morrisons meeting last week, and they said that 99% of their customers bought meat or dairy. They had 10% share of total supermarket sales but 12.5% of meat sales, and were keen to build on this.
