    The benefit of rolling

Been out with the Cambridge rollers today (Well Dad has) Been doing second wheats drilled early October that didn’t get rolled in the autumn. Nice sunny day and a bit of dust coming off the rolls, ground conditions seemed ideal and tractor on floatations hardly left a mark. Don’t think we’ve...

Project 331, Vaderstad restoration and isobus conversion

We have one of these drills, Serial number 236! Got it about 5 years ago to drill cover crops as all we had was a combi Drill. There are a few cracks in the chassis on ours and the marker arms are terrible for breaking the shear bolts. They are definently built a bit on the weak side but I quite...

    Extase potential problems

Cut some Extase last week, looked great all year after Beans and hasn’t dissapointed. Best ever yield on the farm helped by a bushel weight of 79.5 which was better than the Gleam adjoining it. Also cheaper to grow as no T0 required. Fantastic variety.

    New toy day

You can tell by looking at the wheel rims, stamped into them is when they were made, 1995 on those two trailers. Didn't know if back door was going to be rape tight as had gaffa tape all round the inside of it.

    New toy day

I saw that trailer and was impressed, slightly better than its twin next to it. Rip offs had them up for sale for 6k this summer, think you got a good buy there.

    Rocking beam trailer axles

All our trailers are leaf Spring suspension, have seen a Bailey trailer for sale with rocking beam axles that interests me. Trailer has had an easy life. Is there any disadvantages with a rocking beam axle over leaf Spring. I notice that it costs more to buy a new trailer with rocking beam axle...

    Canopy on Spring Oats

I was going through with Bittersaltz as well at 5kg/ha. Looks as though I'll leave the canopy out. Hasn't had any fungicide, still clean but could put some Epoxy/Pexan in to keep it that way. They are about 18" tall" average. Hope we don't get any thunderstorms
