Thanks for the reply’s. Kv seems to be still king. Hoping to get a lend of our neighbours 4 furrow for a day to try out, it has no28 boards which I hear are the best ? Ours has no8s and which do a good job but which tractors and tyres getting bigger , I think no28 would suit us better
Want to change our 3 furrow kverneland plough for a 4 furrow . We grow veg so are changing land every year or 2 and soil types vary. What ploughs would suit this type of work ?
How’s other veg/potato growers getting on this year ? Been a complete disaster here weather wise this year. Cutting cabbage in ankle high water is a new extreme 😂. Will be quite a bit of loss here, just hoping for a dry back end
Not many locally chancing over winter cauli and sweetheart now with the cost of production and low yield if any yield at all. Spain seems to take over supply from December to June/July
Few local producers here (Armagh) have recently started supplying St ewes in Cornwall , right spin. We’ve been supplying Nobles for years. Irish egg companies can’t compete
Has anyone claimed your 4 yearly points for meeting with your agronomist? If you have what evidence did you have to provide to get them. Any things better than doing them brain numbing eoi operator courses to get points
Be interesting to see how much of a jump in price others have seen when changing like for like models in the last few years. New Claas Arion 530 bought in 2018, exact same tractor bought in 2023. 26k/38% increase. Are other brands similar ?
We put up a 16000 hen multi tier house in 2017 to add to our veg growing and fuel business. Takes by far the least amount of work (3 hours/day)and makes the most money of all our businesses. If you have a few egg farmers that can give you advice in the beginning you can soon get the hang of it ...
Have had 500 series arions this last 5 years (530 and 510) , gave no bother at all. Mapped both which helped but your 550 at 165hp is perfect. This face lift of the 500 seems to have sorted engine liveliness and all round quality
