Silage / Straw / Hay Price Tracker

What's the market for hay like at the moment? I've got 100 tonnes of hay in quadrants for sale. Had it tested, and it's good, my sheep like it and doing well on it. Seems to be a lot around so might keep it back till next year. It's indoors.

    Straw bedder

I've got a Spread-a-bale mounted on a telehander Works very well and excellent for my barns which I can't drive through. Very little dust, quick and easy to use.

    sheepdog pup problem

I was told to train them to do something else, stay or lie down, immediately. It worked for my bitch who was just starting to chase cars. Soon as a car came along I gave either command, LIE DOWN or STAY, after a short while she took no notice of cars.

    Shorting Brexit

There was a huge change in exchange rates back in 2007/2008 caused by, I assume, the banking crisis. That is where most of the profit derives from.

    Done with Beef!!!!

We only went into farming in 2005 and we were totally amazed that flavour never got a mention. Just how big and lean was all that mattered! Gave up eating beef 40+ years ago and only started again when we produced our own. I prefer grass-fed but also had nice steaks in the US and that wasn't...

    Sowing Grass seed?

We use a 6m Opico tine harrow with an air seeder on it. No complaints, very quick, no lines, excellent take up and no broken tines in 11 years even on stony ground. Some are worn down to the bend now though.
