we bought old sp for about 4.5k 20 years ago as a back up, after a refurb and section control added it did all spraying on 200ha arable for several years and still going well today. refurb was about 12k with electric air compressor for 9 section shutoff. dont be too afraid of age as solid build...
very little to do with agri chemicals i would assume, its surrounded by grassland and NI has very little arable which use a lot of chemicals. the main arable areas are east down and north derry neither area drains into lough neagh
just come from checking gas holes in the burner ring, crawl inside when empty (and stopped of course), we use a bit of welding wire or fencing wire buffed to a point and poked into each hole to make sure they are clear.

if its the main drive from engine into gearbox it has hole drilled to allow oil to bearing and its a shaft within a shaft. prone to fracturing, mine went about 7khrs. seems a lot of them do that.
