We’re finding the best seedbeds are behind the Opus/Sumo after a pass of the power harrow, ploughed fields are taking a bit more work with a pass of the press before the power harrow.
If you’ve little or no sales experience don’t expect to earn good money in machinery sales to start with. You will have to build relationships before people are likely to buy from you meaning any commission based earnings will be minimal. Not much more than minimum wage with a laptop and phone...
We swapped a Magnum 7230 for the 836 and didn’t regret it. The Renault was a much more versatile tractor that we could use for everything. Magnum had no pick up hitch and only a 1000rpm PTO, the gear change from forward to reverse would give your right arm a good workout too. Couldn’t fault it...
I had a Renault Ares 836 new back in 2003 with front suspension, to this day I will still say it was the most comfortable conventional tractor I’ve ever driven. Replaced a Magnum 7230 and was more than capable of doing the same tasks. Was used with a 7 furrow semi mounted plough and then 6...
Designed and built by Weidemann themselves and not Wacker Neuson, it does however share the boom with the Kramer equivalent. Early machines had one or two teething issues but all of these have been sorted on the current models. Would suggest trying one especially coming from a JCB, they are good...
Novacat 302 3m with conditioner would be around 1300kg, straight mower around 1000kg. Not the heaviest on the market by a long shot but well built. I was working for a Pottinger dealer up until the start of the year and never heard of any issues with the mowers, they also sold Mchale mowers...
There’s no expiry date on telehandler certificates however there is a suggestion by HSE that they should be refreshed every 3-5 years. Proof of adequate and up to date training is the line used.
For my sins I used to be an instructor for the certificates but got tired of it as a lot that is...
I’m earning what I would call a higher rate (£10k+) compared to when working in sales but obviously don’t want to state hourly rates or figure publicly.
Certificates held by myself are also backed up with training experience from teaching others along with the operating skills and workshop...
Auto-contour could just be something as simple as it needing recalibrating or worn sensor bands under the header. Most of the time I had an issue with it on the 460 a few years back it was one of those two causing it especially the bands being on abrasive soils back then.
I’ve been wearing ‘Kangaroo Poo’ flannel shirts that I got from M & M Direct, longer than most so seem to stay tucked in. Had the same issue with the Champion ones in the past.
