How much Soya would be grown

How economical would it be to grow soya without a market for the by-product as animal feed?

    Foolish going back into milking?

If you can get out of block spring calving cows and carrying them over to serve in the autumn would be a far better job than hiring cows in, if the finance is available. These cows, with nothing at all wrong with them can be had for around £500

    clock changing why?

I've been wondering this as well, nobody has given me an answer as to why clocks go back 8 weels before shortest day, but domt go forward until the end of march, it would make a lot more sense for them to go foreard at the end of february!

Einstein quoted thru' the medium of Welsh

I think you'll find that in most parts of wales, welsh 1st language farmers are in the majority rather than the minority, in this part of north wales i can go about my business for a week or two without having to speak a word of english, contractor, feed rep, accountant, vet, wynnstay workers...

    Milk off grass only

Our have been doing 25l @ 4.3bf 3.8p on 3kg of feed for the last month or so, cut feed down to 2kg to try and up grass intakes last week, lost around 0.75-1 litre of yield, that litre is only worth around 18p (b litre, Arla) and feed is 20.5 p\kg, so marginally better off!

Thinking of taking AI course :)

it's so good not having to keep cows in to wait for the AI man, lot less stress for the cows to go out with the main herd, rather than being kept back!

Cows out in day time from tomorrow.

16kg? Why 16kg, short of forage?

    All things Dairy

Sun's out now after lots of rain last night/this morning. Finally can get enough grass into the cows. Proteins have been hovering around 3.3% for the last month on #silagetomilk, instead of the 3.7-3.8 we are usually on this time of year

    Owens nutrition milk powder

How are people getting on with this powder? Not 100% convinced that mine are thriving as they should, but that could be my fault, having had bad cases of crypto in early march.

    Getting dairy heifers synchronized

They will probably scan as 90% in calf to AI, but in reallity around 60-70% will calve around the due date and the rest will calf in around three weeks time
