    Fleece washing

The saying "pi55 poor" comes from when poor people used to collect the families pi55 to sell to the wool mills . If they were so poor they couldn't even afford there own pot they "didn't have a pot to pi55 in!

    Fleece washing

The government should offer some sort of incentive to encourage big firms to produce it and big building firms use it. It would put a baseline price on all types of wool and tick all the environmental credential boxes. Obvious I'd have thought but while they are in bed with the petro chemical...

    Insulted by auctioneer

I took a trailer full of short keep stores a couple of years back that included 8 or 10 long keeps to get them gone. Told the bloke penning them i wanted to pull them out and pen separately, he insisted on doing it and as i wasn't staying i left him to it. Needles to say he didn't bother and...

    Low scanning shearlings

I wouldn't be overly concerned by the amount of singles, you're using breeds that aren't overly prolific in my opinion and shearlings often have less lambs than more mature ewes.. I'd be more concerned by the empties, I'm in a similar position. Might well be late rather than empty but im not...

Another dog or give it up?

Lost my collie the other day, He was the most devoted and loyal dog I've ever known, to a fault almost if that could be possible. It got me thinking i might just sell up. I'm only running 120 ewes and some calves as i work off the farm, and around here the opportunity to scale up is practically...

    Sheep scanning accuracy

I guess it depends if he's scanning at a reduced rate while he perfects his trade or if he's charging as much as someone thats 99% accurate as too how much slack you cut him!

    Boxing day bellend

You should do, from my experience the firearms officers are pretty decent, well they certainly were towards me. They have to take them away as a first course of action brought about by some high profile murders involving licensed firearms/ shotgun holders. They will look into it and you'll get...

    Boxing day bellend

Contact the coppers, get in there first because that way they will treat you as the victim and he the aggressor, if he reports you they will work for him. I don't know if you have a rural police team but we do and they are actually really good. P**cks like that need putting back in their box.

    Keeping my calves as bull

I worked it out at £120 from 3-4 weeks old to weaning. That didn't include electricity for the water heater or any labour for me. It was only half an hour- hour each end of the day depending on if they were being bedded up or not.

Sheep and Cattle Feeds Midlands UK

You could try Manor farm feeds, smaller businesses but very helpful and friendly. I don't know how far they travel but worth a chat.

    What sheep breeds for market?

Around here they would rob them off you, not worth sending to market.
