    Texel bloom dip

I thought I might be opening a can of worms asking this 😂

    Texel bloom dip

I've got some texel shearlings to sell (and some tups in a few weeks) and I'm wanting to colour them. I'm looking for the 'biscuit brown' sort of colour. Last year I used golden pearl diluted and even making it more concentrated than the bottle suggested, still wasn't very dark. Just wondering...

    Cheviot Mule vs NofE Mule

See that with most types of mules these days, not bred hard enough to do the job they're intended for

    Cheviot Mule vs NofE Mule

Would be a great idea but I think the price of draft cheviots might not be that cheap at the moment 🤦‍♀️

    Cheviot Mule vs NofE Mule

Ah really? We already have too many prolapses than we probably should with the mules and texel crosses, so that would be a big black mark against the cheviots 😬

    Cheviot Mule vs NofE Mule

Smart looking lambs are them!! That's it, it's weighing up whether the extra cost is worth it in the long run

    Cheviot Mule vs NofE Mule

We do keep some each year and lamb the texel crosses a bit earlier. But like to buy a few mules in each year to get a bit of fresh blood in. I just fancied trying the cheviots as I've seen some smart looking lambs off them from a few people.

    Cheviot Mule vs NofE Mule

I know, I saw what they averaged up there last year so dread to think how dear they'll be this 😬

    Cheviot Mule vs NofE Mule

I've always fancied a few cheviot mules and, after years of only running NofE mules, I've finally persuaded management (my mum) to have a trip to Longtown this year and try a few. I've been doing a bit of reading however, and found a few people saying they struggle to get cheviot mules to rear a...

Experiences feeding calf milk replacer to lambs?

Just wondering if anyone has any experience of feeding calf milk powder to lambs and if it was/wasn't successful? I know lamb milk replacer is higher in fat and protein, but I've read that calf milk contains too much copper for lambs so is not viable.

    Teaser tup possibilty?

I have a pedigree texel tup lamb, born early Feb, with only one testicle. Is it worth having the vet do a vasectomy and keep him as a teaser for our commercial flock? Will he still have the desired effect if he's done as a lamb rather than let him mature for a year or so? Or will he not be as...
