Unfortunately it's 100% true though.
Still in my first 5 years of shedders but certainly lose less than I did with mules in terms of deaths and ones that get kicked out due to no lambs or not fit to go again.
They are not faultless though.
Thankfully this is my last year buying in...
Farming in Fife as a Fraser explained....
....If I have far too many ewes and sell nond then they will all lamb and live and will have a problem of no grass or room.....
.... if I sell 80 ewes in lamb to get to my usual number I will end up with a disastrous lambing and be 80 ewes with lambs...
Last hear out of around 600 ewes I had 9 to sell that didn't rear lambs or were yelled, and when I got round to selling them at the end of May they were through the roof pricewise.
Different story when I had mules, but if you keep them till May then they are worth a fortune so might as well run...
Just to revive this thread and to double check my logic.
Easycare ewes on good silage, they have access to Optilyx high energy and get a run of fodder beet every 4 or 5 days. We have plenty beet but if I feed ad lib they can start exploding so try and limit them on it a little.
A bite of grass...
Can you place it on the weigh crate and get it to sync the weight of the animal to the ear tag of the animal. May be interesting to see how lambs are killing out.
My main job is for reading batches of lambs and ewes going to market and then printing them off or downloading them.
How does it...
I got my name on the waiting list and got a Gamic with hydraulic decks, unbelievable trailer that will see me out and so much easier not buggering about folding up decks and running sheep up ramps

Never had a car with more towing power and stability
What engine w
What engine was in the Discovery you had, I have thebTDV6 which is powerful but would rather the D300 in a Disco 5. The SD4 is way underpowered

Nope wouldn't buy a car without leather, 1. it is easier to keep clean and less smelly and 2 it holds its resale value way better.
